Corkagh Park Report

Godfrey Donohue -

The carp lake has produced a 12lb carp for Rodney Gaynor this week - our third specimen this year. Any carp of 12 lbs or over is classed as a specimen by the Central Fisheries Board (as no fish went in at specimen size). Rodney has been fishing at the lakes for four months now and only started to carp fish recently, and has had 5 carp in his last two outings. The record on the lake is 12.5 lbs at present, we fully expect to see this record broken before the end of the year.

We will be having an open day on the lakes on Aug 11th - please see all details on our website. Come along to see demonstrations of carp fishing by professional carp anglers. All are welcome.

There are carp being caught every day on the lakes by many of the regular anglers. Liam McDonald and his son Keith both caught some nice double-figure carp. Liam's was 3oz short of a specimen and his son Keith had a double of 10.5 lbs. We've had a busy month in July with many groups coming to the Fishery for fishing tuition.

The trout lake is producing fish steadily with a great evening rise. This is ideal for a few hours after work (we have an evening ticket at EUR10), as with the evening rise, you are almost sure to catch fish. We always love to see new anglers coming along.

We always add to our stock of fish in both lakes to ensure a constant stock of fresh fish and pleasurable angling. The fish range from 1 lb to 26lbs in the trout lake.
